This week in school

Week beginning 9th December:

The busyness of Christmas has definitely started now. Tuesday saw our Year 1 performance, Wednesday was the Reception Nativity and Thursday was the Christmas service. We've finished the week with our 'Merry Mile' run to raise money for Blythe house; with over £500 raised by the end of the day on Friday - what an amazing achievement!

Week beginning 2nd December:

Advent has now started and our children are getting more and more excited about the coming of Christmas.

Thank you for all those year 2 parents who came to join us for our stay and read coffee morning this week.

Week beginning 25th November:

Our final open event took place this afternoon. They have been a huge success and it has been a real treat to be visited by such a lot of families. If you know anyone who would still like to look around, please ask them to contact the school office.

Week beginning 18th November:

Year 5 Health Champions this week - what a super group of children to take part with the High Peak School Sports Partnership.

Week beginning 11th November:

It was great to have a visit from Rev. Frances on Monday to help us to commemorate Remembrance. This year, our poppy appeal sales have raised £223.46. Thank you to everyone who gave a donation.

Week beginning 4th November 2024:

This week started our series of Open Days. It is always a great pleasure to show parents around our amazing school.

Week beginning 21st October:

Another busy week in school and so much happening; from Reception children making Gruffalo Crumble to Year 5s out all day a Jodrell Bank to enrich their work around 'Space'.

We have also been delighted to welcome 3 more student teachers from Sheffield Hallam University to school to begin their placements.

Week beginning 14th October:

This week has been busy with our two Parents' Evenings. It is always a real treat to be able to share our children's learning with parents and to be able to talk about how our children are progressing.

Week beginning 7th October:

This week we welcomed Mr Wilshaw into our year 1 class. He is a student teacher from Sheffield Hallam University and we are looking forward to working with him throughout this year.

Week beginning 30th September:

This week Sowing Roots have been into school to talk about 'Creation' with Year 5 and 'Our Wonderful World' in Year 2. It's great to have visitors into school to share in our learning.

Week beginning 23rd September:

Another very busy week in school. Harvest festival on Monday (led by Year 5), puppet workshop on Thursday in Year 4 and Friday's MacMillan Coffee morning in Year 6. Our children have also excelled themselves with excellent learning behaviour.

Week beginning 16th September:

Year 3 annual blackberry picking. Year 3 made the most of the great September weather and went on their annual blackberry pick. They made fabulous apple and blackberry crumble with the blackberries they found - delicious!

week beginning 6th September:

What a fantastic start our amazing Reception children have made to school and what a fabulous job our year 6 buddies are doing. The buddy/ reception relationship is the start of a life long friendship. So many of our older children talk fondly of their buddy and how they still see each other around Whaley Bridge.
