Message from the Headteacher
Dear Parents, Carers and Families,
I am really proud to be the Headteacher of Taxal and Fernilee CE Primary School. I hope that this website gives you all the information you need about our school and shows you how our values and ethos underpin everything we do.
Our staff go "above and beyond" to give the children a great start in life. Our school is a warm and inviting place that enables children to thrive, and grow into amazing young people. We offer an excellent standard of education that equips our children with the tools they need for the next stage in their life journey.
We have a fantastic staff team who are all caring and sensitive to the ever changing needs of all our children and encourage our children to take care of each other and our older children take responsibility in school to supporting our younger children. We pride ourselves in a compassionate, family atmosphere.
Our children are positive, cheerful, helpful and keen to question and learn. We want to build on this curiosity by ensuring our curriculum is one where every child has the chance to experience a real variety of opportunities, both at school and beyond.
We are proud to say that our results are consistently above the national average in reading, writing and maths, but we also recognise and celebrate the fact that education is so much more than academic achievement alone. We have an exciting enrichment curriculum that develops the core values of Strength, Compassion, Respect, Integrity, Peace and Tenacity. We also involve the children in experiences that broaden their cultural awareness and give them a deeper understanding of the world around them.
We want to work with the whole school community and build on the school’s many strengths. We believe good relationships with parents and carers are vital to the success of the school and hope that by working together we can ensure all children thrive.
We have high expectations of all the children and expect excellent attendance, behaviour and a positive approach to learning.
I hope that this website gives you a flavour of our fabulous school. If you would like more information or to visit, please feel free to contact me. I am always very happy to show people round as we have so much to share and celebrate.
Best Wishes
Karen O'Connor (Headteacher)
