History
The history curriculum at Taxal and Fernilee is unique to the children that attend our school. Whilst covering all areas of the National Curriculum, it also engages the children in local history from the places where they live.
Our curriculum is built upon strands of learning which allow the children to develop the skills required to study history at a deeper level. These strands provide a framework of learning through which they can gain a greater understanding of key figures and periods of time in history.
Teachers bring their lessons to life through class trips, artifacts, visitors to school and other types of “hands on learning.” We believe that studying history in this way will inspire a love of the subject in all our children and encourage in them a greater understanding of the world in which they live.
