Computing

At Taxal and Fernilee Primary School, we believe in teaching children the computing skills they need to live healthy, happy and successful lives. Therefore, we want to model and educate our pupils on how to use technology positively, responsibly and safely. We want our pupils to be creators as well as consumers and give them confidence in using a wide range of different software packages for content creation. We aim to educate all children in our school to become ‘tech savvy’, so they are aware of both the opportunities created by technology and the associated dangers. We encourage staff to embed computing across the whole curriculum, in order to make learning creative and accessible. We aim for our pupils to become computer literate in each area of computing so that by the time they reach Upper Key Stage 2, children have the independence and confidence to choose the best software package to solve a problem and/or complete a task.
